Excluded breeds
Our ambition is to offer a policy to as many cats and dogs as possible. However due to legal restrictions, there are certain breeds we can't cover yet. Here's an up-to-date list.
We don’t cover these breeds and any mixes including them:
- Akita
- Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog
- American Bandogge (Bandog)
- American Bulldog
- American Bullies in Micro, Pocket and Classic sizes
- American Staffordshire Bull Terrier
- Anatolian Shepherd Dog (Karabash)
- Anglican Bulldogge
- Boerboel
- Bucovina Shepherd Dog
- Bully Kutta
- Cane Corso
- Caucasian Shepherd Dog (Caucasian Ovcharka)
- Chinese Chongqing
- Chow Chow
- Dingo
- Gull Dong
- Indian Pariah Dog
- Irish Staffordshire Bull Terrier
- Kangal Shepherd Dog (Kangal)
- Korean Jindo
- Perro de Presa Canario (Canary Dog)
- Raccoon Dog
- Romanian Raven Shepherd Dog
- Sabueso Español (Spanish Scenthound)
- Shar Pei
- Thai Ridgeback
- Tibetan Mastiff
- Wolf Hybrids (including Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs and Sarlooswolfhounds)
- Wolves
- Any breed that isn’t an option to select when you buy your policy.
- Dogs typed as the following breeds under the Dangerous Dog Act 1991 including any dog mixed with:
- Pit Bull Terrier
- Japanese Tosa (Tosa Inu)
- Dogo Argentino (Argentine Dogo or Argentinian Mastiff)
- Fila Brasilieiro
We're proud to now cover the following dog breeds for healthcare, although we still can't cover them for Third Party Liability:
- American XL Bullies with a certificate of exemption from the Dangerous Dog Act 1991
- Dogs who have been typed as an American XL Bully in their certificate of exemption
We don't cover these cat breeds:
- Any cats who are a hybrid between a wild cat (Serval or Savannah) and a domestic cat (also known as F1 cats)
- Asian Leopard Cats and any crossbreeds of Asian Leopard Cats
- Any breed that isn’t an option to select when you buy your policy.
